The curriculum of Holy Cross Catholic School reflects our philosophy and mission statement. Our certified educators utilize a variety of teaching methods and educational best practices to meet the varied needs of our students. Instructional varieties include whole group, small group, individual instruction, discussions, projects, and the use of manipulatives and technology. A consistent curriculum series with supplemental materials are used in all subject areas. Each area of study consists of well-defined objectives and outcomes. The curriculum provides a sound foundation in all areas of study and is aligned with the Archdiocese of Detroit’s curriculum standards. We are all one team, supporting one mission: educating the WHOLE CHILD – academically, socially, and spiritually.

At Holy Cross Catholic School, we have a unique approach to education that truly meets the needs of all of our students. Each of our students has a personalized learning plan to meet his/her unique needs. All students are presented with their grade-level content standards and guided by their teachers with the goal of mastery. For students advanced in the content areas of math and reading, they are challenged within the classroom to ensure continued academic growth at their pace. In unique circumstances, students are able to enter an Accelerated Learning Plan, in which they complete advanced grade level content in higher grade levels. For students needing academic intervention, we have our Academic Success program; a student support that provides intervention to students in any area necessary to ensure their academic success here at Holy Cross. The Academic Success program provides supports in math, reading, fine motor, social/emotion, and goal setting. Our Academic Success Interventionist is a certified teacher and works closely with our classroom teachers and families. Academic Success students receive these services one to five times per week, one to two times per day in their classroom as well as our Academic Success classroom.

Our specials classes enhance the top-notch education our students receive. Our specials classes enrich our students’ learning. Our specials classes include art, technology, music, physical education, and library. 

A recent addition to our academic enrichment opportunities is our STEM Lab! Here, students can further explore lessons in the area of science, technology, engineering, and math. Our STEM Lab encourages active learning and problem solving! Students utilize technology to create, collaborate, and complete projects – learning and applying knowledge to find new solutions.
