The Our Lady on the River Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society was established at Holy Cross Catholic School in 2007. The OLR NJHS is a duly chartered and affiliated chapter of this prestigious national organization. Students who hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale are invited to apply to become a member of the organization. Students are then reviewed by the faculty committee to ensure that they meet the required standards of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character. An induction ceremony is held each spring in Holy Cross Church for those students who are invited to join the organization.The OLR NJHS is a service organization. Students assist in variouis ways within the school and community. Students often serve as peer helpers, guides for visitors, and the organing body for the annual celebration of Catholic Schools’ Week. Additionally, students play a role in the community by raising funds to support those in need. This year, the OLR NJHS has sponsored a family in need for the Christmas season. Other events are ongoing.

Creator God,
In the work of our hands, our minds and our spirits
may we constantly reflect the work of Thy Kingdom.
Grant us the courage to willingly embrace the mantle of servant,
knowing that as servants of God we will share
in the fruits and joys of Thy Kingdom that is and is to come.
We ask this through the One who came to serve, Christ our Lord. Amen.

Nathional Junior Honor Society Pledge
I pledge to maintain high scholstic standing,
To hold as fundamental and worthy an untarnished character,
To endeavor intelligently and courageously to be a leader, and
To give of myself freely in service to others.
In so doing, I shall prove myself worthy of a place in the National Junior Honor Society.
